As we journey through this fruitful time of Lent, we are pleased to announce that Father Deogratias Rwezaura, SJ, has been appointed as the Delegate for Formation of the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM).
He succeeds Father John the Baptist Zamcho, SJ, who has served with dedication and depth since the inception of this role.
Father Rwezaura brings a deep religious spirit, a profound love for the Society, expertise in formation-related matters, and strong organizational skills. We are confident that his leadership will build upon Father Zamcho’s excellent work in fostering vocations and overseeing formation across its various stages.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Father Zamcho for his unwavering commitment and significant contributions to Jesuit formation. His efforts have laid a strong foundation, and this appointment seeks to support the continuation of his vital mission.
Father Rwezaura will officially assume his role in June 2025 upon the completion of his sabbatical. Until then, he will actively participate in meetings and collaborate with Father Zamcho to ensure a smooth transition.
We pray for God’s guidance and blessings upon Father Rwezaura in this new mission and express our sincere appreciation for his willingness to serve.
Yours in Christ’s Mission,
Fr. José, L. Minaku, SJ
President, JCAM

If you wish to make a donation by direct bank transfer please contact Fr Paul Hamill SJ treasurer@jesuits.africa. Fr Paul will get in touch with you about the best method of transfer for you and share account details with you. Donations can be one-off gifts or of any frequency; for example, you might wish to become a regular monthly donor of small amounts; that sort of reliable income can allow for very welcome forward planning in the development of the Society’s works in Africa and Madagascar.
Often it is easier to send a donation to an office within your own country and Fr Paul can advise on how that might be done. In some countries this kind of giving can also be recognised for tax relief and the necessary receipts will be issued.
