The Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Rev. Fr. Dr. Evaristus Ekwueme, SJ to the Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) Head Office in Geneva as Academic Director for Africa and Madagascar and Global Information and Technology Officer.

A Jesuit priest and experienced academic leader, Fr. Evaristus has served in senior leadership at Arrupe Jesuit University in Harare, Zimbabwe, including as Vice-Chancellor and Dean.

With a background in philosophy, higher education, and institutional leadership, he has contributed significantly to the formation of students and the advancement of Jesuit education in Africa. Fr. Evaristus Ekwueme, SJ holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Arrupe College (University of Zimbabwe), a Master of Arts and PhD in Philosophy from Boston College, a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering qualification from Clark University, and a Bachelor of Theology from Hekima College–Jesuit School of Theology, Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

In this strategic leadership role, Fr. Evaristus will help strengthen JWL's academic mission across Africa and Madagascar while overseeing the organisation's global information technology initiatives. His appointment reflects the Society of Jesus' continued commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and lifelong learning, particularly for people and communities on the margins.

The appointment also underscores the growing collaboration between JWL and the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM) in advancing higher education across the continent.
