Through an internal memo, the JCAM President Fr. Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator, SJ, announced the appointment of Fr. Chioma Nwosu, SJ, as the new rector of the Jesuit Community of Arrupe Jesuit University in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Fr. Nwosu, is a member of the North-West Africa Province (ANW). He was born on 10 October 1969, entered the novitiate on 10 August 1997, was ordained on 21 July 2007, and took his final vows on 29 April 2015.

Presently, he is serving as a Formation Delegate and consultor of ANW. He previously served as a Vocation Director of his province, Chaplain of a university parish, and Pastor of a large, urban, and multicultural parish. He has also served as the Superior of two apostolic communities in ANW.

Announcing the appointment of Fr. Nwosu, the JCAM president, Fr. Orobator, stated that Father General conveyed his good wishes, support, and prayers for Fr. Nwosu’s new mission of leadership. He also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Rector Fr. Francis Gibson Munyoro for his service to date.

The JCAM President likewise expressed his gratitude to Fr. Nwosu for his availability in taking up the mandate for this important mission. He also thanked the outgoing Rector Fr. Gibson Munyoro, SJ, who has served for close to six years, for his leadership at the Jesuit Community of AJU, given its scope, as one of the largest formation houses in the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM).

The dates of the transition of the new rector will be announced in due course.
