Jesuit Scholastics Ordained Deacons at the Church of Saint Ignace in Paris

Mgr Philippe Marsset, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Paris (France) ordained 10 deacons in the Church of Saint Ignace in Paris on June 20, 2020. 

The liturgical celebration presided over by Mgr Philippe Marsset notably saw the participation of several priests including Father François Boëdec SJ, Provincial of the Jesuits of French-speaking Western Europe . Father François who welcomed and presented the candidates, thanked the bishop for his availability, especially at this time of the pandemic . He also acknowledged the gift of the families of the Jesuits in communion during the online ordination ceremony, from Africa and Madagascar, the United States, Europe, India and the Near East.

Six Jesuits Ordained Priests in Nairobi

On Saturday, June 20th, six Jesuit Deacons, were ordained Priests in the Pedro Arrupe community chapel, at the Mwangaza Jesuit Spirituality Centre, in Nairobi-Kenya. The six Ordinands represented three provinces of the Society of Jesus in Africa namely: Eastern Africa Province (AOR), Zimbabwe-Mozambique Province (ZIM), and North-West Africa (ANW).

On June 16, 2020, the JCAM President, Fr. Agbonkhianmeghe E. Orobator SJ, announced the appointment of Fr. Ismael Matambura SJ, as the next Director of African Jesuit AIDS Network (AJAN). Fr. Matambura is a member of the Central Africa Province (ACE), and presently leads Centre Maisha in Kisangani, RDC. He will replace Fr. Elphège Quenum SJ.

Arrupe Jesuit University holds the first virtual graduation in Zimbabwe

The Arrupe Jesuit University (AJU) in Harare, Zimbabwe, held virtual graduation on June 12, 2020. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance and also the Registrar of AJU, Dr. Gilbert Madai SJ, led the program of the day meticulously, observing all protocols just like it would be on a normal graduation day. He welcomed all those present physically and those who followed the ceremony virtually.
