    Washington, D.C. USA (Georgetown University) - The Director of the JCAM Justice and Ecology Office (JEO), Fr. Charles Chilufya along with Fr. Rigobert Minani, the convenor of the Ecclesial Network for the Congo Basin and the Secretary for Justice and Ecology at the Jesuit Curia in Rome, Fr. Xavier Jeyaraj are participating in an International Conference dubbed “INTEGRAL ECOLOGY: a synodal response from the Amazon and other essential biomes / territories for the care of our common home” taking place from March 19th to 21 at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

    As part of the process leading to the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region in October 2019 at the Vatican, the International Conference on Integral Ecology: A synodal response from the Amazon and other essential biomes/territories for the care of our common home will take place on 19 to 21 March 2019 at Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA.

    Today, 5th June, marks the World Environment Day. World Environment Day reminds us of the damage we have done to our God-given Common Home and the action we need to take to heal it. As Pope Francis tells us, “Never have we so hurt and mistreated our common home as we have in the last two hundred years” (Laudato Si’ no. 53).

The programme is designed for young people to introduce and explore concepts of purposeful, passionate, responsible and ethical leadership.

    The Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat of the Society of Jesus, gathered from 4th to 8th November in Rome to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its creation, following the audience granted by Pope Francis at the Vatican, has continued its work today, examining how to strengthen and develop the different forms of collaboration within and outside the Society of Jesus for a more effective social apostolate.
